ADEC reviewed the 2018 Site Investigation Report Juneau Valley Alaska Club Site (Report) dated December 2018 from Alta Geosciences, Inc. for the Alaska Club Juneau Valley site in Juneau, Alaska. Although a work plan was submitted to ADEC in September 2018 for the work completed in October; the work plan was not approved. ADECs October 15, 2018 letter, which discusses the shortcomings of the September 2018 work plan, is enclosed at the end of this letter for reference. Per 18 AAC 75.335, ADEC-approval of work plans is required prior to conducting field work.
This report is not approved in its current state. ADEC comments must be addressed in a revised report by February 28, 2019. |

ADEC Contaminated Sites Program staff reviewed and approved the “Site Cleanup Plan - Alaska Club Juneau Valley Site” (Work Plan) dated February 1, 2019 from Alta Geosciences, Inc. (Alta Geosciences) for the Alaska Club Juneau Valley site in Juneau, Alaska. This Work Plan was submitted to ADEC via email on February 3, 2019. Proposed field activities generally consist of decommissioning the 5,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST), excavation and offsite transport/disposal of contaminated soil, along with soil field-screening and sampling for laboratory analysis. |

ADEC Contaminated Sites Program staff reviewed and approved the “2018 Site Investigation Report Alaska Club Juneau Valley Site” (Report) dated January 2019 from Alta Geosciences, Inc. (Alta Geosciences) for the Alaska Club Juneau Valley site in Juneau, Alaska. ADEC also received a letter “Response to ADEC Comments on Site Investigation Report” dated January 23, 2019 in response to ADEC’s January 8, 2019 report rejection letter of Alta Geosciences’ December 2018 Site Investigation Report. Field work generally consisted of advancing four soil borings, installing three groundwater monitoring wells, field-screening and soil sample collection for laboratory analysis. This revised report adequately addresses ADEC’s 11 comments from January 8, 2019. |

Cleanup Complete Determination Issued |
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Contaminated Sites Program (ADEC) has completed a review of the environmental records associated with the Alaska Club Juneau Valley at 2841 Riverside Drive in Juneau. Based on the information provided to date, it has been determined that the contaminant concentrations remaining on site do not pose an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment and no further remedial action will be required unless new information becomes available that indicates residual contaminants may pose an unacceptable risk. |
