9/26/2003 | Update or Other Action | ADEC received two reports, one dated October 1997 and the other September 1998. Both reports contained information regarding the former Municipality of Anchorage Paint and Sign Shop. The 1997 report by Golder Associates Inc (GAI) indicated that 350 mg/kg DRO, 350 mg/kg total Lead and 0.032 mg/kg Methylene Chloride was present in floor drain area. While the September 1998 report by Shannon & Wilson recommended additional soil collection at 3 – 3.5 feet as well as the installation of a monitoring well to determine potential impacts to groundwater. Additional soil sample analysis via TCLP to determine if elevated metal concentrations exceed the allowable limits established in 40 CFR 261.24 was recommended by Shannon & Wilson. | Beatrice Egbejimba |
11/6/2003 | Site Added to Database | DRO, lead, and methylene chloride. The site was a former paint and sign shop and is currently occupied by Municipal Light & Power Plant. | Beatrice Egbejimba |
11/12/2003 | Update or Other Action | ADEC sent letter to Lena Savile of ML&P with a request for additional site characterization of the floor drain area. The floor drain is located in the demolished building previously used by Municipality of Anchorage as a Paint and Sign Shop. Based on the report received by ADEC in September 2003, initial site characterization by Golder Associates Inc. indicated that 350 mg/kg DRO, 350 mg/kg total Lead and 0.032 mg/kg Methylene Chloride was present in this area. | Beatrice Egbejimba |
11/14/2003 | Update or Other Action | ADEC sent cost recovery letter to RP and obtained ledger code for the site (14116060). | Beatrice Egbejimba |
12/15/2003 | GIS Position Updated | Used TopoZone and Municipality of Anchorage online Assessor's Maps to locate site. | Former Staff |
12/18/2003 | Site Characterization Workplan Approved | ADEC sent work plan approval letter to Lena Savile of ML&P. The workplan proposes to excavate potentially impacted soil beneath the floor drain area. The removal will continue until groundwater interface is encountered. After soil removal has been completed, soil samples will be collected and analyzed for diesel range organics (DRO), Gasoline range organics (GRO), Residual range organics (RRO), PCBs, PAHs, metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead), and TCLP for metals. A drive point well will be installed west of the excavation in the approximate groundwater flow direction for this area. A groundwater sample will be collected and analyzed for DRO, GRO, RRO, VOC’s, and dissolved metals including arsenic, cadmium, chromium and lead. | Beatrice Egbejimba |
6/2/2004 | Update or Other Action | ADEC received a request to transport 5 cubic yards of impacted soil generated during the April 2004 field activities at the paint and sign shop. After reviewing analytical results as well as pertinent information ADEC approved the transport of impacted soil to Chemron Alaska. ML&P was however requested to provide a post treatment sampling plan as Chemron Alaska was not approved to perform this activity. ADEC had no objections with the proposed transport and disposal of a 6 by 6 feet concrete slab at the Anchorage Regional Landfill. The material was also generated during the April 2004 investigation. | Beatrice Egbejimba |
6/22/2004 | Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other | Reviewed Additional Environmental Assessment And corrective Action for the Former Paint and Sign Shop. Approximately 5 cubic yards of contaminated soil were excavated from the former floor drain and treated at Chemron Alaska. Confirmation soil samples did not contain contaminants above ADEC cleanup levels. (This action entered 9/17/09) | Bill O'Connell |
6/13/2008 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | Initial ranking with ETM completed. | Eileen Olson |
9/21/2009 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 73720 Former floor drain. | Bill O'Connell |
