Problems/Comments
A 6,000 gallon used oil underground storage tank and associated piping and sump were closed during a demolition project at the Anchorage Municipal Landfill. One sample collected at the sump exceeded the migration to groundwater cleanup level for diesel range organics. The source of the release was likely the piping at the connection to the sump located in the warehouse, the cause of the release is not known.

6/16/2022 | Site Characterization Report Approved | A site assessment report was approved. The site assessment was conducted in accordance with 18 AAC 78.090 following closure of the tank, piping, and ancillary equipment including a used oil sump. Samples were analyzed for DRO, GRO, RRO, VOC, PAH, and RCRA metals. Seventeen cubic yards of soil excavated from the used oil sump was disposed at the Anchorage Regional Landfill. A sample from the used oil sump excavation exceeded diesel range organic migration to groundwater cleanup levels at 282 mg/Kg. Approximately 310 cubic yards of soil removed from the other excavations was used as backfill following receipt of sampling results. | Lisa Krebs-Barsis |
