Site Report: Former Peter Pan Seafoods-False Pass
We make every effort to ensure the data presented here is accurate based on the best available information currently on file with DEC. It is therefore subject to change as new information becomes available. We recommend contacting the assigned project staff prior to making decisions based on this information.
Problems/Comments
The abandoned Peter Pan Seafoods Cannery has been closed for over 30 years. The property was acquired by Westward Seafoods via an asset sale in 2022. There are concerns that contamination related to the general operations of the cannery, hazardous building materials, and the operation of a tank farm exist at the site. Contamination is unconfirmed at this time. In fall 2024, the False Pass Tribal Council submitted a DBAC application to the DEC Brownfields program. The application was selected to receive DBAC services including a Phase I and II ESA and a drum inventory.
