Problems/Comments

A release was discovered in August 1997 during removal of this 800-gallon, non-regulated underground diesel fuel storage tank. FAA's identification designation for the only tank at Building 20 is Tank ID 34-A-2. As of 1/17/02, FAA is in the process of transferring the property to the City of Kenai. 10/25/2001 Update or Other Action Staff completed a file review for the FAA Kenai facility, including site closure request for the Emergency Operating Facility (EOF). The EOF consists of 3.34 acres next to the Kenai Airport and the locations of six removed structures, including engine generator and maintenance shop buildings, and two tanks with associated piping going to each building. Further characterization and clarification was requested, including the addition of monitoring wells near the location of the engine generator and maintenance shop buildings. The South Former Living Quarters Area, East Former Living Quarters Area and the VORTAC require more characterization and cleanup at some sites.
