Problems/Comments

Historical diesel release caused by faulty fuel pipeline union. Corrective action by RP was inadequate as contaminant plume migrated beneath Clinic building. Workers in the Clinic have been affected by fuel odors during periods of warm weather. USS 5013. Update 12-4-08: Old clinic had vapor intrusion issue, new clinic built in 2002. AVEC did some remediation at site as stated in August 29, 2001 letter in file.

2/16/2011 Update or Other Action Spoke with Drinking Water Division to get information on the public water systems in Ambler. Two sources are listed as PWSID #300214.001(approximately 320 feet from old clinic) and 300214.002 (approximately 880 feet from old clinic). Called new clinic and verified that it was opened in 2002. The old clinic is occasionally rented out as temporary housing for workers coming to Ambler. Pam Clemens

9/19/2018 Update or Other Action Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) reviewed site files of Alaska Village Electric Corp. sites and sent a letter to the AVEC main office requesting they contact ADEC by October 15, 2018 to schedule a meeting to discuss sites at which they are a responsible or potentially responsible party. 11/20/2018 Meeting or Teleconference Held The ADEC hosted a meeting with the Alaska Village Electric Corporation (AVEC) to discuss the 14 AVEC sites currently on the contaminated sites database. AVEC CEO, and environmental consultant were in attendance as well as ADEC program managers, and site project managers. Individual site status and cleanup needs were discussed for each site, in addition to overall funding sources, level of priority and forward progress at the sites as a whole. Chelsy Passmore
5/24/2022 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Notified by ANTHC that new water and sewer connections would be installed at homes east of this site. ANTHC submitted a work plan for contaminated soil management dated May 2022. Excavation work is not expected to reach groundwater in this area. DEC provided comments on this date. 7/27/2022 Update or Other Action Notified that the ANTHC project will not be complete this field season, but ANTHC will try again next summer.
