Problems/Comments

Contamination from an old leach field. There are elevated levels of PCE, TCE and DRO in the groundwater above MCLs. No contamination was detected at the on-site well (well depth is 38-40’ below ground surface, screened 5-10’). Upgradient sampling did not indicate any off-site contamination. The consultant states that the contamination appears to be coming from the old leach field. Lots 1, 2, and 13 North Cartwright Industrial Park Subdivision. Site inspection occurred on July 31, 1998 which identified contamination at the site. Other contact phone number is (907) 479-7619.

ADEC requested temporary well points at the old leach field location and downgradient of the old leach field. Analysis for DRO, RRO, GRO and VOC's requested on groundwater samples. 10/13/2008 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Received the Travis/Peterson Groundwater Monitoring Report for the three temporary wells installed at the site. One well had detectable levels of PCE but below cleanup level. However, groundwater depth was not measured at the time the samples were collected therefore ADEC requested re-sampling of the wells. 2/15/2011 Update or Other Action DEC received from Truckwell of Alaska the results of the sampling of the drinking water well. Drinking water well was sampled per the requirements of the cleanup complete with IC's determination in July 2010. No diesel range organics or volatile organic compounds were detected in the sample. 3/24/2011 Update or Other Action DEC sent letter to responsible party indicatinhg that sampling of the drinking water well is complete but decommissioning of the monitoring wells continues to be an outstanding issue of the Cleanup Complete with Institutional Controls determination. Requirements

Description Details
Advance approval required to transport soil or groundwater off-site. ADEC must approve any plans for excavation or installation of additional wells.
Other ADEC must be informed of any land use changes or property transfers.
Excavation / Soil Movement Restrictions Any on site excavation must be approved by ADEC.
Groundwater Use Restrictions Installation of additional groundwater wells must be approved by ADEC.
Other Any existing monitoring wells (temporary or permanent) that are not needed for monitoring must be decomissioned in accordance with DEC guidance.
