Problems/Comments
The site is the location of a former NASA Nike Missile Site that hosted more than 70 Cajun Missile launches from 1965 to 1972 by NARL and NASA staff. An initial EPA START sampling episode was conducted in July 1999 that identified TPH contamination and three transformers at the site. Three transformers were subsequently removed in 2002 by the USACOE and testing indicated petroleum hydrocarbons were present at 9,900 mg/kg. Since the initial EPA START testing identified petroleum as the chemical of concern, the site was referred to the State DEC for further oversight and the site was entered into the CS database. The follow-up 2002 testing identified DRO only at concentrations below cleanup levels. The site was eligible for FUDs, but a report in 2005 stated that there were no FUDs issues or concerns. EPA ID # AKSFN1002131.
