4/27/2001 Update or Other Action Received faxed interim removal action plan and request to transport petroleum contaminated soil, prepared by Alaska Water and Wastewater Consultants, Inc. Subsequent to removal of a 1000 gallon UST, four soil samples were collected from the bottom of the excavation for lab analysis with results ranging from 0.0947 to 1.05 mg/L. The plan proposed to continue the excavation and haul contaminated soil directly to Alaska Soil Recycling for thermal treatment. Scott Pexton

Jim Frechione
7/19/2001 Conditional Closure Approved Letter sent to Dan and Sharon Gillikin with ADEC decision. GRO, DRO, and RRO met Table B2 Migration to Groundwater cleanup levels, but benzene remains at the site above Table B1 cleanup levels and was reported at 0.281 mg/kg in a soil sample collected from approximately 3 feet beneath the former tank location at a depth of 9.5 feet below ground surface. Jim Frechione
7/19/2001 Institutional Control Record Established Decision document indicated the home heating oil tank had leaked and the owners removed the tank and contamianted soil. Soil sample data indicated elevated levels of benzene remained in the soil but groundwater was at depth. The low levels remaining and the hydrogeology indicated min9imal risk to groundwater. Database entry will be appropriate until 18 AAC 75.341 soil cleanup levels are achieved. Jim Frechione
