Meeting or Teleconference Held |
A comment resolution meeting was held to discuss the remaining issues for the OU-2 remedial investigation-risk assessment report. DP040 contaminants and extent of contamination were discussed. The remedial investigation identified Metals (arsenic, chromium, and cobalt) exceeding Background levels in groundwater. Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds (benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, and the Volatile Organic Compound, Trichloroethylene (TCE) exceed Table B1, migration to groundwater cleanup levels in soil at Source Area DP040. Metal concentrations of Chromium, mercury, and thallium exceed background levels in soil. Some uncertainty still exists concerning the Metals exceeding background levels and further investigation will be recommended. |

The scope of this Supplemental RI is to address current data gaps at the CERCLA source areas on Eielson AFB. The data gaps are generally related to the incomplete characterization of site contaminants under the 2015-2021 Performance Based Remediation (PBR) and emerging contaminants identified since the 2015-2021 PBR. |

Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other |
DEC provided comments for the Draft Sampling and Analysis Plan, Repair Pump House at the Combined Heat and Power Plant Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The SAP describes design and construction of a new pump house near the Combined Heat and Power Plant at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Due to the proximity of known contamination, field screening of excavated soils is required. Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contaminated groundwater underlies the site and PFAS contamination is expected in smear zone soils and below the groundwater table.
