Problems/Comments

Contamination may be from 5 UST's formerly located on the property. Complaints of a trucking company onsite dumping waste oil and transmission fluid on the ground. Site ranked high due to public concern. Site name formerly known as "Former Sand Lake Gravel Pit" (File No. CS100.290). Site is the former Sand Lake gravel pits. MOA Property IDs 01128103000, 01129118000, 01126110000, 01112115000, etc. Note 8/16/2011 database action regarding need to track associated monitoring wells.

The information received included a "Notice of Site Closure Status and Record of Decision for Areas Contaminated by Surface Releases at Kincaid Estates, Also Known As the Former Sand Lake Gravel Pit (ADEC File No. CS100.290)" letter from the CSP dated July 11, 2003. 1/23/2007 Update or Other Action Received an email response from Lori Barnett indicating that the Cost Recovery amount threshold has only been 52% acheived for this site after closure and will therefore not be pursued. Bill Petrik
8/16/2011 Update or Other Action Following public inquiry regarding two monitoring wells present on a lot that is for sale (Seaview Heights BLK 2 LT 5A at 6233 W Dimond Blvd., located close to the Kincaid Estate subdivision, staff investigated well purpose and status. Determined that these are wells designated SL-1 and SL-2, respectively ~93' deep and ~330' deep and intersecting drinking water aquifers. The wells were installed to monitor groundwater quality as part of a study of the impact of subdivision development in a former gravel pit. Locations found in "Sand Lake Area Groundwater: Geochemistry and Aquifer Connectivity" study; electronic copy in site file. Wells should be tracked and decommissioned if not used. Will also determine whether other monitoring wells in vicinity are active or have been decommissioned. Eileen Olson
