Problems/Comments
Soil contamination found in mid June 2002 when UST removed from between buildings 12 and 13 at Denali NP Headquarters. Soil was excavated and taken for thermal remediation. Contamination above ADEC cleanup levels remained at bottom of excaxation. A borehole was drilled to a depth of 20 feet. 1380 mg/Kg DRO at 11 feet. Below detection limits at 16-feet depth. No BTEX.
Action Information
Action Date | Action | Description | DEC Staff |
---|---|---|---|
8/6/2002 | Update or Other Action | Excerpts from a a site investigation report received. | Jeff Conn |
12/17/2002 | Site Added to Database | DRO. Site transferred from PERP. | Jeff Conn |
2/20/2008 | Update or Other Action | Teleconference with Bill Heubner and Tammy Scholten. Discussed review of this file. Confirmation sampling after the tank removal showed that DRO up to 4,730 mg/kg remained at 7 ft bgs. Based on installation of a soil boring (BH-1), Hart Crower estimated 1-2 cy remained; however, BH-1 appears to have been place at the clean end to the excavation and not where the DRO was observed. DRO was detected at 1,380 mg/kg at 11 ft bgs in BH-1. | Janice Wiegers |
2/25/2008 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | Initial ranking with ETM completed. | Janice Wiegers |
5/23/2012 | Site Visit | Performed a site visit at the C-Camp Auto Shop site and the C Camp Emergency Services/Fire Management Building site in Denali National Park & Preserve. National Park Service (NPS) staff gave us a tour of the C-Camp sites, sites in the Headquarters area and the Hotel Powerhouse site. At the C-Camp site we observed drilling and soil sampling for the installation of a monitoring well. | Melody Debenham |
3/15/2013 | Conceptual Site Model Submitted | Received the final conceptual site model (CSM) for Headquarters Buildings 12 and 13. The CSM identifies the incidental soil ingestion, and inhalation of indoor and outdoor air as complete pathways. The limited volume of residual contamination at this site makes these pathways insignificant. | Melody Debenham |
3/15/2013 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 74924 500-gallon HOT. | Melody Debenham |
9/30/2014 | Potentially Responsible Party/State Interest Letter | Potentially responsible party letter sent to the National Park Service. | Melody Debenham |
8/31/2017 | Cleanup Complete Determination Issued | Gretchen Caudill |
