Problems/Comments
In 2003, approximately 22 tanks were decommissioned and removed from the Kongiganak QCC Tank Farm; however approximately 30 tanks remained on site. During removal activities, two areas of dark staining with a slight hydrocarbon odor were present at the west end of Kongiganak QCC Tank Farm. No liner, dike, or fence was observed. According to ADEC records, no analytical soil samples have ever been collected from the site.

There are six large horizontal tanks, 14 small horizontal tanks, a few miscellaneous drums, and some piping associated with the large tanks. No evidence of surface stains or distressed vegetation were noted. No active releases were observed. Large tanks are supported on wood cribbing and have metal drums beneath their valves which appear to be a mechanism to catch drips. | Erin Gleason |
