Problems/Comments

Weathered petroleum soil contamination related to historical spill at the pump station. Cleanup to start as part of performance based contract in 2006.

This report outlines several potential cleanup alternatives associated with petroleum-contaminated soil at the Valve Manifold Building and the associated fuel lines and the Drum Storage Area. Each alternative is comparatively evaluated using the criteria of effectiveness and permanence, reduction in toxicity, mobility, or volume through treatment, implementability, advantages, limitations, and cost. Based upon this analysis, the proposed cleanup approach identified in this report is the placement of land-use controls on the site prior to and during the cleanup and then excavation and off-site disposal of the contaminated soil. DEC agrees with the proposed cleanup approach as outlined in the Feasibility Study report. Anne Marie Palmieri
