Incidental spillage over long period of time without response or remedial effort by the operator has resulted in contamination of surface and subsurface material.

Contaminant sources from facility operation at the site could have impacted soil, ground water, and surface wate. Migration pathways could include migration to subsurface soil and ground water, volatilization, runoff as raw product form or with surface water and uptake by plants or animals. Direct human exposure routes include ingestion, dermal contact and inhalation; indirect routes include ingestion of impacted plants or animals. Scale is 1:12,176 feet, elevation data not available, estimate less than one hundred feet above sea level. Accuracy of Lat Long coordinates is estimated at medium, within 150 meters. 9/2/2016 Update or Other Action On this date, DEC sent a letter to the USFS requesting action on a number of sites. For this site, DEC stated: Petroleum contamination was found at the Thorne Bay Ranger District warehouse during the cleanup of another spill in 2005. In a letter dated March 1, 2006, the DEC stated that it could not allow the USFS to delay cleanup indefinitely on a site that has not been characterized. To our knowledge, the USFS has conducted no additional characterization or cleanup at this site to date. DEC hereby requests that by October 10, 2016 the USFS provide a timeline by which they will conduct this additional characterization and cleanup. Anne Marie Palmieri
