Problems/Comments
Soil contamination near a home heating oil aboveground storage tank was discovered when the homeowner was excavating his property. Maximum DRO contamination of 6,400 mg/kg remains adjacent to the house near the water line. Approximately 5 cubic yards of soil was excavated and spread on site for landfarming. Drinking water well is 23 feet from house and 8 feet from the edge of the excavation. Oil AST was removed and new one placed on the west site of house. The stressed water line was replaced, and it was recommended that the water well be tested for contamination and monitored. Recommendation for no further action based on remedial actions of removal of contaminated soils up to the house, water line, and well, replacement of AST and fittings, replacement of bent water line, backfill with clean soil and homeowner monitoring his water quality.
