Problems/Comments
During an inspection on November 19, 1991, 85 barrels of RC 800 asphalt, which approximately 20 barrels were rusted and leaking product onto the ground. Approximate area contaminated 100' X 50', and sample tested 4.5 ppm benzene.

1/10/2007 | Site Closure Approved | This release was related to a 91 HW program inspection where 3 areas of concern were observed. They were: dried yellow and white road paint behind the shop; used oil in the waste oil tank; and leaking drums of RC 800 asphalt cutback. During the 92/93 time frame, the deird road paint was picked up and disposed of in the Kodiak landfill. The used oil in the waste oil tank was burned for energy recovery. Tehleaking drum wer segregated. thos not, leaking weer re-stacked and coverd for protection until used. The leaking drums were pumped into a tanker truck for later use. the drums ere air dried, cut up and crushed and disposed of in the Koaidk landfill. The contmainted soil ws removed and replaced with clean gravel. the contaminated soil was re-cycled into imrovements to the airport tie down area. No contamiantion issue remain.
