Problems/Comments
On August 23, 2006, Evert's Air Fuel delivered an estimated 440 gallons of #1 diesel to 1554 Persinger Drive, North Pole. At the request of the owners, Evert's Air Fuel was to fill their aboveground storage tank. There are two above ground tanks on site; one by the garage and one behind the house. The tank behind the house was to be filled, however, Evert's Air Fuel filled the one by the garage. The tank by the garage failed and released all of the fuel to the ground. Evert's Air Fuel performed the majority of the cleanup. Over 100 tons of contaminated soil were excavated and thermally treated. Field screening and sampling was performed by the PERP project manager. All contaminated soil was removed with the exception of what was left under the garage. Property boundary to the East is adjacent to the Chena Slough.
