Problems/Comments
The dormitory's underground heating oil tank (capacity of ~4,000 gallons) was removed from this site after the dormitory was demolished in the summer of 2007. 80 cubic yards of contaminated soil were removed and treated at OIT in Fairbanks. RegenOx was used to treat residual contamination left at the south end and the center of the excavation. Confirmation samples taken from the excavation limits contained up to 195 mg/kg GRO and 3,030 mg/kg DRO. RRO, ethylbenzene, and xylenes were also present in the residual contamination but benzene was not detected. There is only one remnant building remaining in this area from the former hotel. The remaining building is a power house containing a generator. According to NPS staff, there has been some discussion of using this building for office space, but this is unlikely. This site is located just west of the NPS Denali Nat'l Park Hotel Oil Spill (file #220.38.001).
