Problems/Comments
During an initial site inspection on July 12, 1997 (performed by private environmental consultant Ron Rozak, P.E.), an estimate of 30 to 90 cubic yards of diesel and/or used motor oil soil contamination was observed in surface an near-surface soils. On September 3, 1997 during a limited site investigation performed by Soldotna-based Northern Test Lab, two areas of concern were observed. An area of approximately 5 feet by 10 feet at a depth of 2 feet in the center of the driveway, and a large area on the northeast side where no vegetation was growing, with soil contamination from the surface to the groundwater level, approximately 3-5 feet below ground surface. Hydrocarbon sheen was observed on the groundwater. The extent and source(s) of contamination were not defined. <-Prior to 9/14/2015 PDH No soil or groundwater sample data has ever been provided to ADEC for this site. Therefore contaminants of concern are based solely on visible staining of ground surface with "petroleum", and no contaminant concentration data is available. PDH 9/14/2015

1/30/2008 | Site Added to Database | Site added to the database. | Alyce Hughey |
6/12/2008 | Update or Other Action | Site transferred from Don Seagren to Paul Horwath per Linda Nuechterlein. | Alyce Hughey |
5/22/2014 | Update or Other Action | No additional updates or information or communications with land owner have occurred to date. | Paul Horwath |
9/11/2015 | Update or Other Action | Lat/Long collected and verified using CS Internal ArcGIS.com web map, based on a site sketch in the file prepared by Paula Crowley, Northern Test Lab, September 1997. Entered Lat/Long coordinates into database: 60.567930 -151.168142 | Paul Horwath |
9/14/2015 | Update or Other Action | Reviewed project file completely to determine history and status of site. No soil or groundwater sample data has been collected or reported to ADEC. There is no laboratory confirmation of any contaminants of concern, or their concentrations. This site was entered into this database based on visual soil staining of the ground surface, felt to be petroleum based on sight and odor. | Paul Horwath |
9/14/2015 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 75595 Soil. | Paul Horwath |
11/18/2020 | Potentially Responsible Party/State Interest Letter | Sent RP James Libert a Potentially Responsible Party/State letter. | Jessica Hall |
11/19/2020 | Workplan Requested | Sent RP James Libert a Work Plan Request letter. | Jessica Hall |
5/18/2021 | Update or Other Action | Spoke with RP via telephones. They sent over a site history recap of contamination on site. ADEC sent an email describing option for sampling locations and advised RP to work with A QEP to prepare and submit a work plan. | Jessica Hall |
6/28/2021 | Update or Other Action | Public records request sent to Trihydro consulting. | Jessica Hall |
6/7/2024 | Update or Other Action | Site status changed to unconfirmed. DEC conducted a site inspection in May 2024 and no potential sources for a hazardous substance release were observed. There was also no evidence of a release such as stained soil or stressed vegetation, or petroleum sheen on the surface water in the wetlands along the eastern border of the property. | Bill O'Connell |
