Problems/Comments
During the construction of a Solid Waste Treatment Facility at the Swanson River Field Pad 43-4, diesel range organic concentrations in the groundwater of 2.27 milligrams per liter (mg/L) to 5.49/6.22 mg/L and benzene concentrations of 0.00700 mg/L to 0.0192 mg/L was found during four separate monitoring events done before the facility was completed. The hydrocarbon contamination is believed to be associated with a former reserve pit. The Solid Waste Treatment Facility is operated under ADEC Solid Waste Treatment Permit No. SWXA052-12. The facility consists of a double lined cell designed to accommodate 600 cubic yards of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) exempt oil field waste.
