Problems/Comments
This site was a lode mine where some mercury may have been used for assays. A0.5 lead-acid battery and half full oil can were found in 1992. Antimony, mercury, and silver were detected on the workshop floor above background levels (245, 2.6, and 101 mg/kg, respectively. Mercury was also detected in a pile of carbonaceous material at 0.5 mg/kg and in the soil downhill from a reddish-orange stained gully at 0.6 mg/kg. The 1992 report identified mercury as a significant contaminant at this site because it was not found in background samples. Dames & Moore also estimated 3 cy of petroleum-impacted soil in the soil of the workshop floor, although a soil sample showed low levels of TPH (510 mg/kg).
