Site Report: Kalakaket Creek RRS - Septic Tank Outfall [OT001]
We make every effort to ensure the data presented here is accurate based on the best available information currently on file with DEC. It is therefore subject to change as new information becomes available. We recommend contacting the assigned project staff prior to making decisions based on this information.
Problems/Comments
Multiple contaminants from septic tank outfall, incuding DRO, Antimony, DDE, Dieldrin, PCBs, and Heptachlor Epoxide.
PCBs were detected in multiple samples of surface soil in high levels. Dieldrin was detected at 5.8 mg/kg. Heptachlor epoxide was detected at 0.27 mg/kg (flagged data). Traces of DDE were detected below cleanup levels. DRO was detected at levels barely above migration to groundwater cleanup levels. Located on hillside coming down from upper camp, but still at high elevation.
More than 150 cubic yards of soil was removed through a series of 8 excavations in 2009. Confirmation samples showed that concentrations were below cleanup levels.
