Spoke with PPR staff who made site visit when site was discovered in 2008. He was not able to provide sample locations that were field screened (with a PID), but characterized the yard as having no additional soils that looked chemically contaminated. He also thinks that there was not a PPR file for this as it occurred during a time when these sites went right over to CS without a file associated with it. |

Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other |
ADEC staff reviewed the "Draft Site Characterization Report, Residence - 3359 Lineman Avenue Drums, North Pole, Alaska 99705". Although all soil sample results measured Arsenic above Migration to Groundwater cleanup levels, ADEC determined that can be attributed to background levels. The trichloroethylene measured above cleanup levels in one soil sample was not measured in the groundwater and so ADEC does not feel that there is an exposure pathway to drinking water. The pentachlorophenol and PCBs documented in the one soil sample in 2008 were not detected in the soil or groundwater samples from this study. Therefore, ADEC has decided to proceed with site closure. |

Cleanup Complete Determination Issued |
ADEC issued a Cleanup Complete Determination for the site Residence - 3359 Lineman Avenue based upon the findings of the site characterization work completed in 2018. Contaminants (PCBs, PCP, methylene chloride) found in a composited soil sample near the drum were above cleanup levels in 2008, but were not found in a more complete site characterization conducted in 2018. ADEC therefore determined the contaminants were to be characterized as "De Minimis". |
