Problems/Comments

Reported 07/11/88. Eight leaking 55 gallon drums of unknown contents along with asphalt plant remnants and debris. Soil covered with tar-like substance in 300' area. Oily wastes, barrels, antifreeze containers and other materials partially buried. Extent of contamination and health impact unknown. Formerly assigned to Halverson/Munger. Formerly known as Former Asphalt Plant. Land was leased to Babblers & Rogers for their asphalt plant. Last staff assigned was Levy.

7/11/1988 Preliminary Assessment Approved Site observed by ADEC personnel and appears to be remains of an asphalt plant. Various pieces of construction equipment, one small office building, two storage sheds, miscellaneous commercial fishing equipment, and other assorted debris on the property. Also observed were numerous 55 gallon drums of unknown contents, boxes and oily wastes, and approximately 300 square foot area covered with black tar. Former Staff
8/15/1988 Update or Other Action (Old R:Base Action Code = FI - Field Inspection (General)). Site inspected by KDO office personnel and documented with photographs. Former Staff
9/14/1989 Update or Other Action (Old R:Base Action Code = FI - Field Inspection (General)). Site inspected and drums found to be present. Also observed contaminated soil. Gravel fill had been spread over some of the contaminated areas. Former Staff
6/6/1990 Update or Other Action (Old R:Base Action Code = FI - Field Inspection (General)). 8 barrels observed (4 blue, 4 orange). Orange barrels labeled Lupranate M20 which is a chemical urethane companies use. Two of these barrels are lying on their sides and have potential to leak. Lupranante is a non-toxic or hazardous substance. However, it still should be treated with care. Former Staff

1/23/2004 Update or Other Action File Number assigned and entered into the Fileroom and CS DBs. Alyce Hughey
3/15/2005 Update or Other Action Sent letter to RP of record requesting cleanup status update. Copied ADOT on letter. According to KPB records the site is now owned by ADOT. Site inspection to be conducted in Spring 05 after snow melts. Donald Seagren
5/7/2005 Update or Other Action Site inspection. Several semi-trailers and an old street sweeper stored on site. The back of the site used as starting site for ski trails. Several small stained areas on gravel pad. Lined ponds off back of pad, that are assumed to be remnants from asphalt plant operations. Site has been cleaned up. Remaining risk to human health and the environment is minimal. Donald Seagren

Metadata include No Topo Basemap, TopoZone Pro Street Map, Black and White Aerial Photo, on a Medium Size Map, View Scale 1:10,000, Coordinate Datum NAD83.
