Problems/Comments

DEC first visited the site in 1987 to investigate overflow problems with the Kiser laundry septic system. Drums and solid waste were observed during this and other visits to the site between 1988 and 1991. Drums containing what appeared to be waste oil and solid waste including batteries. The drums and solid waste were removed prior to 1991 with only a small amount of metal scrap and one drum remaining. Four separate stained areas were identified. A preliminary assessment was conducted in 1993 and consisted of collecting six near surface soil samples from the stained areas and one groundwater sample from a location suspected to be down gradient from the stained areas.
