Problems/Comments
Several complaints received that possible hazardous waste material was buried in a trench 8-10 feet deep, 200-300 feet long, and 16 feet wide on property by owner. Material may consist of batteries, petroleum products, and hazardous substances, stored in drums, as well as drilling mud in boxes. Drinking water well and Chena River nearby. Extent of contamination unknown. Neighbors complained of noxious fumes in summer of 1989. Also an oil spill occurred at nearby pond when a caterpillar was driven into the pond. Wright states that the trench is in a different spot than the one identified by several neighbors. Block 2, Lot 8, Chena Marina Subdivision. (rpltr6)
