Problems/Comments
During a site assessment of the Gerstle River Expansion Area for UXO in 1999 Borrow Pit 1 was identified to contain a number of buried military drums. Sampling results indicated the presence of DRO and RRO. This site is addressed under the DoD FUDS Program and is managed under the DSMOA. The GREA expansion area was leased from the State or Alaska in the 50’s and 60’s for military testing of chemical munitions.
