Health Care Providers
Health care providers are required by law to report any known or suspected pesticide poisoning or illness. (AS 18.15.370)
Please remember to report any illnesses or other pesticide related incidents to the Epidemiology Section of the Department of Health and Human Services at 907‑269-8000. If the situation is an after-hours public health emergency, contact 800-478-0084.
Pesticide exposure resulting in injury or illness is believed to be under-diagnosed and under-reported. Most illnesses have clinical presentations that are similar to common medical conditions and display non-specific symptoms and physical signs. Knowledge of the patient’s exposure to occupational and environmental factors is important for diagnostic purposes.
More information on pesticide poisoning is available in EPA’s manual - Recognition and Management of Pesticide Poisonings.
