Sanitary Survey Inspector Approval Information

How do I get approval to be a Sanitary Survey Inspector?

  • Step 1: Complete the Basic Sanitary Survey training course.
  • Step 2: Pass exam with score of 70% or higher.
  • Step 3: Submit completed Sanitary Survey Report from the field exercise completed during the class.
  • Step 4: After DW Program staff confirms successful completion of above, submit application along with application fee ($293).

How will I be notified if I've been approved?

Approval notification will be provided by email from DW Program staff.

How long is the approval good for?

Approval is valid for two years ending on the calendar year (example: if approval given July 2022, it will be valid until December 31, 2024).

How do I renew my approval as a Sanitary Survey Inspector?

  • Step 1: Complete the Sanitary Survey Renewal training course.
  • Step 2: Pass exam with score of 70% or higher.
  • Step 3: After DW Program staff confirms successful completion of Step 1 & 2, submit renewal application along with renewal application fee ($204).

Can this approval be revoked?

Yes, the Department may revoke a Sanitary Survey Inspector approval as outlined in regulation 18 AAC 80.439.
