AGDC Gas Treatment Plant PSD Permit Construction Extension
The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) is proposing to construct the Gas Treatment Plant (GTP) located on Alaska’s North Slope in the Prudhoe Bay Unit (PBU), approximately 8.5 miles north-northwest of Deadhorse. The GTP is part of one integrated liquefied natural gas (LNG) project to bring natural gas from Alaska’s North Slope to international markets in the form of LNG, as well as for in-state deliveries in the form of natural gas. The GTP will take gas from the PBU and the Point Thomson Unit (PTU) and treat/process the gas, before it is sent 807 miles through a 42-inch diameter pipeline to the Liquefaction Facility in Nikiski on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula for export in foreign commerce.
Construction Permit No. AQ1524CPT01 was issued on August 13, 2020 and authorizes the installation of twelve (12) cogeneration gas-fired turbines for compression with supplemental firing duct burners and waste heat recovery units, six (6) simple cycle gas-fired turbines for power generation, eight (8) gas-fired heaters, one (1) black start diesel-fired engine generator, three (3) diesel-fired firewater pump engines, two (2) diesel-fired emergency generators, and eight (8) natural/process gas flares. AGDC has not commenced construction under the previous permit and submitted an updated application for Construction Permit AQ1524CPT02 on February 11, 2025.
