Wood Burning - Moisture - Radio Clip

Is your money going up in smoke?

Burning wet wood is a waste of wood. You can check if it is wet by using an inexpensive moisture meter available at many stores and online.

To get an accurate moisture reading, jam the meter deeply into the log. Your goal is a moisture content of less than 20 percent.

If you buy wood, make sure you purchase from a supplier that is part of the Moisture Disclosure Program. They will provide you with the moisture content of your wood so you know if you can burn now or store and cover for later.
