M/V Hayden Bay Grounding

- Kah Shakes Cove, Misty Fjords National Monument , (Lat 55.029 N, 131 001 W), approximately 35 miles southeast of Ketchikan.
- Time/Date
- Diesel fuel, unknown amount. The Responsible Party reported that the vessel has a 500 gallon capacity fuel tank. Minor sheens which quickly dissipated were reported at the time the vessel first sank and during the first refloat attempt. There were no sheens reported during the successful refloat operation.

- Cause
- The M/V Hayden Bay, a 40 ft. fiberglass passenger vessel sank after running aground an unmarked rock. The two (2) people on board safely evacuated in a life raft. The individuals were picked up by the Coast Guard and taken to Ketchikan.
