- The west side of Afognak Island in the vicinity of Tanaak Cape, Malina Bay 58° 15' 82" N/153° 05' 83" W, approximately 36 nautical miles north-northwest of the City of Kodiak.
- Time/Date
- The F/V Midnite Sun, an 86-foot fishing vessel, grounded on the west side of Afognak Island in the vicinity of Tanaak Cape, North of Malina Bay, at 12:30 AM on February 11, 2011. The US Coast Guard (USCG) reported the grounding to ADEC at 12:40 AM on the same day.

- The operator of the vessel and marine salvors have estimated that between 4,000 and 4,500 gallons of diesel fuel have been spilled. The original estimate of 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board was based on the maximum capacity of the four fuel tanks that contained fuel at the time of the grounding. Of the estimated 200 gallons of lube and hydraulic oil on board at the time of grounding, an estimated 30 gallons have been recovered. Total estimated petroleum lost 4,670 gallons of diesel and misc. oils.
- Cause
- The cause of the incident is under investigation by the USCG.
