Time/Date: ADEC received a report that the freight ship Nelson Star spilled heavy fuel oil while moored at the Unalaska City Dock at around 2:15 PM on September 28, 2011. ADEC received the spill report at 3:05 PM on the same day.

Cause: The cause of the release is currently unknown and is under investigation by ADEC and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).
