- This is a potential spill. Approximately 250 gallons of diesel are on board the barge in an above deck tank.
- Cause
- While enroute from Naknek to Homer, the Crowley tug Nachik with the Barge DBL 165-1 in tow entered into Spiridon Bay in an effort to avoid severe weather in Shelikof Strait. The barge was anchored in Spiridon Bay but became separated from the tug and drifted into the nearshore area.
