UPDATE: Homeowners in the Fairbank North Star Borough Nonattainment Area are required under 18 AAC 50.077 and 18 AAC 50.079 to remove or replace outdated wood, pellet, coal stoves, hydronic heaters, fireplace inserts, and large devices that meet certain conditions by December 31, 2024. If you reside in the Nonattainment Area, please review the conditions for a stove that must be removed here: Real Estate Requirement – Fairbanks North Star Borough PM2.5 Nonattainment Area or contact us to see if this new rule applies to you. Prior to the deadline, the removal of these stoves is only required when property is sold, leased, or conveyed. After the deadline, the requirement applies to all homes, regardless of sale status. As a reminder, funding for upgrading your stove to a more efficient device is still available, and will continue to be available past the 2024 deadline, from the Fairbanks North Star Borough
