Location: Point (Pt.) Colpoys is located on Prince of Wales Island. The grounding site is located 34 miles, west of Wrangell, Alaska and 91.5 miles northwest of Ketchikan, Alaska.

Product/ Quantity: The amount of product spilled is estimated at 10 to 15 gallons by the vessel’s crew. The F/V Dolphin is a 166-foot steel vessel with seven fuel tanks. The vessel’s crew re-calculated the amount of fuel on board at the time of the grounding and determined there was 32,000 gallons of diesel fuel rather than 34,000 gallons as originally reported. The vessel has a total fuel capacity of 42,000 gallons. Note: The F/V Dolphin’s registered length is 166 feet. The overall length of the vessel is 176 feet as reported by Trident Seafoods Corp.
Cause: The vessel grounded in shallow water. The cause of the grounding is under investigation.
