- Spill Id
- 09399900701
- Product/ Quantity
- The volume released was estimated by CGG VERITAS employees to be 800 – 1000 gallons of Arctic grade Diesel Fuel
- Cause
- Four thousand gallons of arctic grade diesel fuel was delivered into an off-road, sled-mounted 4,500 gallon fuel transporter, constructed with built-in secondary containment. The drain plug was not installed in the secondary containment compartment during the fuel delivery, and an ice plug in the secondary compartment kept fuel from immediately releasing to the pad. Fuel is suspected of releasing from a crack in the 4,500 gallon tank, draining into the secondary containment. When the ice plug cleared, approximately 800 to 1,000 gallons of fuel released to a snow covered gravel pad before it was discovered.
