- Spill Id
- 09259905601
- Product/ Quantity
- Response personnel removed 200 gallons of lube oil and 9 bags of oiled absorbent pads from the F/V Icy Mist. Due to severe weather and seas, the diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks were compromised releasing 2,700 gallons of diesel and 200 gallons of hydraulic fluid to near-shore waters. There is no oil or other hazardous substances remaining on the vessel.
As the seas continually worked the vessel against the rocks, the hull incurred structural damage and the fish holds became open to the seas, releasing the 135,000 pounds of Pacific Cod onboard the vessel to the surrounding waters.
- Cause
- The F/V Icy Mist grounded due to operator error in rough seas.
