F/V Cape Cross Grounding

Location
Main Bay in Prince William Sound. The vessel grounded approximately half way up the bay on the south side (60° 31.788’N, 148° 03.743’W).
Time/Date
The F/V Cape Cross grounded in Main Bay in Prince William Sound at 5:00 AM on July 26, 2010. The US Coast Guard (USCG) reported the grounding to ADEC at 7:37 AM on the same day.

Product/ Quantity
At the time of grounding, the vessel had approximately 3000 gallons of diesel fuel and 400 gallons of lube and hydraulic oils on board. A USCG overflight on July 27 reported sheen emanating from the stricken vessel, apparently from residual oils in the bilge and an unsecured gasoline drum from the aft deck.
Cause
The vessel drifted onto an uncharted pinnacle.
