Wood-Fired Heating Device Registration

One of the requirements of the Serious Air Quality Plan (SIP) is that wood-fired heating devices shall be registered. This requirement is only for the Fairbanks North Star Borough nonattainment area. 18 AAC 50.077 (h) identifies the specific times when a registration is required. Effective date: January 8, 2020

Registration is required of owners, vendors, or dealers when the following circumstances occur:

  1. Upon the sale or conveyance of a device;
  2. Before closing, if the device is being sold, leased, or conveyed as part of an existing building or other property;
  3. When applying for a waiver;
  4. To participate in the Burn Right Program;
  5. To participate in a woodstove change-out or conversion program; and
  6. Before closeout of any compliance or enforcement action.
  7. Voluntary

Registration, other than the above or on a voluntary basis, is not required.

For your convenience there are two ways to submit a device registration:

  1. MyAlaska ID & Password needed for security
  2. MyAlaska IDs, used in the registration process, will not be linked to registered devices
  3. Emailed receipt for records
  1. Need to provide copy to DEC
  2. Need to keep copy for records

Information Required for Registration:

  1. Device Location (physical address device is or will be installed)
  2. Year of installation or planned installation
  3. Manufacturer
  4. Model
  5. Serial Number
  6. Year Manufactured
  7. Emission Rating of Device in grams per hour (GPH) or one million British Thermal Units (MMBTU)
