DEC Proposes to Amend the Fairbanks North Star Borough Serious Air Quality Plan

Juneau, AK — The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is accepting clean water project proposals, and will award up to $600,000 to eligible projects under the Alaska Clean Water Actions (ACWA) grant program.

“The ACWA grant program is an opportunity for the State of Alaska to direct federal funds to projects we believe will make real improvements on the quality of Alaska’s waters,” said Randy Bates, DEC’s Director of Division of Water. “We partner with boots-on-the-ground local organizations, which use these funds to take care of water bodies where they live, work, and play.”

The program is managed in conjunction with the Departments of Natural Resources and Fish and Game. Grants can be used for things such as water quality monitoring, public outreach, watershed planning, and construction of green infrastructure. Projects must begin and reach completion within the grant window of 2021 through early 2023.

The request for proposals opens September 28, 2020. All applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m., November 9, 2020.
