Targeted soil removal and storage in super-sacks.
The Former Joseph Guy Community Center was destroyed during a fire in April 2006. The site is located in Kwethluk, a rural Alaskan village located approximately 12 miles east of Bethel. The Organized Village of Kwethluk applied for and received a Targeted Brownfield Assessment (TBA) for the burn site. The TBA was completed in 2009/2010, focusing on the 5,000 square-foot footprint beneath the building. The TBA identified three locations requiring corrective action, and developed a brief analysis of cleanup options that focused on building removal and disposal, followed with targeted source area removal. Previous work included the demolition and removal of the burned structure, targeted soil removal, and additional sampling across the footprint. Previous sampling results identified elevated metals concentrations along the southern portion of the footprint. Additional activities involved refined sampling and removal of soil from the property.
Staged soil pending confirmation sampling and ultimate disposal.
