Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives for the 34 Mile Haines Highway Stockpile

An Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) is a report that compares site cleanup options based on site-specific conditions, effectiveness, feasibility, and cost.

The analysis provides the public with background information about the site's location, current condition, previous uses, reuse goals, applicable regulations, and cleanup standards. It then evaluates cleanup alternatives and provides a recommended remedial action. The evaluation of cleanup alternatives outlined in the ABCA is based on the effectiveness, ease of implementation, and cost of each remedial action.

An ABCA is required for any cleanup that uses EPA Brownfields funding. In addition, the public must have the opportunity to provide comments on a draft ABCA before it can be finalized and on-site cleanup activities can begin.

Review the documents below to learn more about the ABCA for the 34 Mile Haines Highway Stockpile and provide comments to DEC. Comments can be submitted using our online form or by mail to DEC Contaminated Sites Program ATTN: Henry Leasia, P.O. Box 1535, Haines, AK 99827.
