Environmental Data Management System

EDMS Helpdesk

EDMS replaces Water Permit Search and many functions provided currently provided by the DEC OASys system.

If you have any questions regarding the transition to EDMS or need technical assistance, please go to the EDMS help website or submit a Help Request to edms.help@alaska.gov. Please include a phone number where you can be reached for assistance.

What is EDMS?

Alaska DEC’s Environmental Data Management System (EDMS) and Customer Service Portal is an online data management system designed to improve communication, enable sharing of information, and increase the ease and accessibility of business conducted between Alaska DEC Division of Water (DOW) and the public. EDMS can be accessed by both DEC agency staff, external partners, the public, and the regulated community to create and manage applications, submissions, reports, inspections, and other compliance activities.

EDMS replaces and expands upon many of the functions provided in the OASys online system and Water Permit Search, to name a few.

Who can be an EDMS User?

Any individual or organization that has regulatory involvement with DOW can be an EDMS user. This includes individuals, consultants, contractors, and facility owners and operators.

Can I access EDMS Data without an Account?

Yes. Data for current and historical permits, inspections, and compliance actions can be viewed using the EDMS Site Explorer map tool. However, an account is needed to apply for permits or manage data for a site or project.

What Can I Do in EDMS?

After logging in using your myAlaska account, you can apply for DOW permits and view and manage data for facilities, sites, or projects for which you are affiliated.

You can also request access to facilities, sites, and projects for which you are affiliated. Once approved, you can view your permits, inspection and compliance history, and view and download published documents related to your sites or projects. You can also submit forms to renew, modify or terminate an existing permit, submit annual or other periodic reports, and invite coworkers, contractors, and associates to co-manage information about your permitted sites and projects.

As a non-myAlaska user, you will still have access to certain publicly available documents regarding active facilities throughout the state and can search, find, or filter active permits.
