Certification Renewal
Continuing Education Requirements for Renewal
Approved continuing education is required for the renewal of all water or wastewater certificates. Continuing education used for renewal must be earned during the three years prior to certificate expiration. There are no exceptions or deadline extensions for this requirement. To be eligible for certificate renewal, all required CEUs must be earned before the expiration date on the certificate. All water or wastewater certificates expire on December 31 of a specific year. For example, if a certificate expires on December 31, 2023, continuing education units (CEUs) must be earned between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2023.
Continuing Education Unit (CEU)
The Department recognizes the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as a unit of education. One CEU is equivalent to 10 contact hours of education.
