Water Quality Reports and Watershed Plans
Welcome to the DEC Water Quality Reports Inventory
The DEC's Water Quality Program works to maintain and protect Alaska's water quality for human health and environmental quality. This includes water quality sampling and watershed planning.
Watershed planning takes a holistic look at the stream, river or lake's watershed, and through a planning process determines steps to take for water quality protection or improvement. Watershed plans use a comprehensive, long-term approach to watershed management, creating a framework for improving water quality. Watershed planning encourages partnerships among agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and the public. DEC encourages watershed planning processes to be community and stakeholder driven. The outcomes of watershed planning efforts include on-the-ground actions for water quality protection and restoration.
Water quality monitoring is an integral part in understanding the health of Alaska’s waters. This web page presents a searchable list of water quality study results, watershed plans, and other water quality planning documents that were supported by DEC funding and/or staff.
